Have you heard of Tweetsgiving?
If you use twitter, you probably do.
Tweetsgiving is a fundraising event cooked up by the nonprofit Epic Change to raise $10,000 in 48 hours to build a new classroom in Tanzania.
The idea is this: make a donation to the cause on the chipin widget; then, on twitter, you share what you're thankful for, with the tag #tweetsgiving. Your thought in turn is seen by everyone who follows @tweetsgiving on twitter. You could even have your Thanksgiving tweet painted on one of the classroom bricks.
It was all over twitter, so it's no surprise that Epic Change made its goal.
That's the power of connection, and the speed at which twitter can spread an idea.
You can still contribute to the fund. Now, every $10 will purchase a book for the school's library.
