(via the Americans for the Arts ARTSblog) Would you like to harness some of the video that's out on the web for your blog or site? Blinkx.com has a nice widget for you.
Blinkx is a searchable database of video hosted on other services like youtube. However, the video on the other sites has to be submitted by an individual to blinkx, so it's not actually searching all those sites. Still, it's pretty cool and can save you time by searching in one place.
To create a widget like the one above, search the video on blinkx, then choose "Wall it." Blinkx assembles a video wall from your search terms. You can adjust the size of the wall, and then cut and paste the code easily into your site.
For the widget above, I searched on "Louvre." As you can probably see, the search returned not only user-created video of families visiting the museum and news stories featuring the site, but also animations, like "Second Louvre," presumably the Louvre in Second Life, and one featuring a statue of Pan copying Travolta's moves in Saturday Night Fever -- in the Louvre.
Let's say your theater was featuring the Bill T. Jones dance company. You could create a video wall by searching on the company name, or on "dance" or on "modern dance," or all three. Or you could focus on the subject matter of the piece they'll perform. And your patrons could embed the code for the widget in their own sites, blogs, or emails. Nice!

Dude. you are tagged.
